Write a three to four-page paper addressing the following issues:

a. Define test validity according to your readings (Cite using APA).
i. Using both a criterion and norm referenced assessment used in your school, demonstrate how the two selected instruments address the concept of validity.

b. Define test reliability according to your readings (Cite using APA).
i. Using both the criterion and norm referenced assessment used in your school, demonstrate how the two instruments address the concept of reliability.

c. Looking at published materials from both tests note how they address the following concepts:
i. Author’s intent
ii. Item complexity
iii. Item selection and usage
iv. Item bias

d. In your general conclusions, discuss how a school administrator, familiar with this information, might be able to assist teachers in forming high quality inferences about how well students are progressing.

Note: Be prepared to present and explain your findings in the live session.
Make sure to include all assessments and/or links in an appendix.

Examples of norm-referenced tests are the MAP and Terra Nova, meaning that students scores reflect their achievement in comparison to all students who took the test nationally. Typically, this is expressed as a raw score that is then converted into a percentile ranking.
A criterion test would be a test which measures student performance based on mastery of the material.
AIR is aligned to the state standards at each grade level which is criterion referenced, but then the scores are normed into performance levels each year after the test is given, which makes the test also norm-referenced.
